ATLANTA – SunTrust Robinson Humphrey (STRH) announced that David Smith has joined the Power & Utilities Investment Banking team as a managing director. Smith was most recently a director with Credit Suisse, and brings nearly 15 years of experience advising both domestic and multi-national clients in debt, equity, structured financings, and complex M&A transactions.
“Dave will further enhance our ability to deliver a comprehensive suite of investment banking solutions to power and utility clients. The addition of him to our growing team is part of our concerted effort to enhance our strategic advisory capabilities to the energy sector,” said Jim Warren, head of the STRH Energy Investment Banking Group.
Throughout his career, Smith has been deeply involved in transactions across the utility, merchant power, and midstream sectors. He has experience advising on approximately $100 billion in announced transactions, including Dominion during its recent acquisition of SCANA, the largest domestic utility transaction of 2018. Smith is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
Smith will report to Jim Warren, and will be based in New York, New York. He will closely partner with his former Credit Suisse colleague Sunil Moser, managing director in the Power & Utilities Investment Banking.
