Portfolio Management Analysts

Portfolio Management underwrites and manages the capital SunTrust Robinson Humphrey (STRH) commits to its corporate client base. Portfolio Managers work together with Investment Bankers, Product Specialists, and Risk Managers to deliver capital and strategic ideas to the STRH client base. Post close of a transaction, Portfolio Managers lead the credit relationship with their clients and actively manage and monitor the credit profile and exposure levels across their portfolios. Portfolio Management’s ability to effectively underwrite and manage the Bank’s capital commitments is driven by solid credit analysis, deep understanding of industry sectors covered, and a regular interaction with management of our corporate client base.

Portfolio Management Analysts are principally responsible for carrying out the credit analysis process for STRH clients, conducting a thorough analysis of the credit quality of both the client and the respective industry to ensure appropriate risk and return for STRH’s capital investment. The analysis is conducted using publicly available information as well as private information derived from due diligence calls with the client’s management team. After committing to a transaction, the Portfolio Management Analysts support the Portfolio Managers in following clients’ performance, analyzing industry performance, and assisting with the management of the risk/return profile of their assigned loan portfolio.

Portfolio Management Analysts also work closely with Portfolio Managers and Investment Bankers to identify new business opportunities across all product areas, including Banking, Capital Markets, and Treasury, and partner with Product Specialists to execute identified opportunities. The majority of Analysts will be placed at the Company headquarters in Atlanta. The Portfolio Management Analyst position is typically a two-year position. At the end of the two-year period, Analysts may be asked to remain in the role for an additional year.

Portfolio Management Analysts’ career paths begin with a structured training program that includes accounting, modeling, corporate finance, underwriting, and financial analysis training followed by placement within one of STRH’s Industry Groups. Through exposure to a wide variety of corporate lending transactions, Analysts will enhance their financial and industry analysis skills, build expertise in corporate finance and underwriting, and develop a comprehensive understanding of their clients and the industries in which they operate.

Requirements Include

  • Completed senior year of a BA/BS degree 
  • Business major preferred 
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or above 
  • Accounting or finance coursework preferred  
  • Proven analytical ability and attention to detail 
  • Solid leadership and interpersonal skills 
  • High degree of academic and extracurricular achievement 
  • Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, team environment 
  • Superior writing and oral communication skills 
  • Willingness to commit substantial time and energy to the position.

The majority of Analysts will be placed at the Company headquarters in Atlanta.
